Our Lady of the Carnival Before I put a break on the crazy days, here are a few quick watercolors for a small, very early history of Gertrud von le Fort about a miraculous event in the Venetian carnival. (Too bad that this story is invented. Probably, anyway.)
The salon of the small, "not begotten" Rosabella Loredan ...
... Pope Pius V., after the painting by Titian , treats herself to an outrageously expensive espresso on the Piazza San Marco ... (If not in the novel, but seemed appealing) ...
And the Renaissance church of Santa Maria dei Miracoli, which is worthwhile if only to Venice, ... In Gertrud von le Fort novel, the picture of grace there a corresponding share of the happy ending of the story.
